Around The World Voyage : Commentary
25, 2002 (local)
We've made it into Singapore! Captain Dave was only 5 minutes late on his predicted landfall. Dave has done a fantastic job of keeping the boat and his crew safe. You couldn't ask for a better captain.
When we arrived at the Raffles Marina, we were greeted by the new crew of the second leg: Capt. Jim Leishman, vice president of P.A.E., and crew members Brian Saunders, a P.A.E. sales rep; and Paul Grover, a friend of the company and Nordhavn caretaker. It was great to see them. They were joined by some marina employees who were super helpful in helping our Nordhavn get all tied up and secured in one of the best slips in the entire place. This is one of the nicest marinas I have ever visited. Raffles' rep, Michael Lee, made us feel right at home and today invited us to lunch at the marina restaurant. The decor and the furnishings were equal to if not better than any place I have been. They served traditional dishes of the local region, all of which were excellent. We're so grateful for Michael's hospitality.
So, for the crew of Leg 1, our journey has come to an end. For me, personally, this has been one of the highlights of my life. I won't soon forget all the adventures and special people we met on the beautiful little islands and atolls.
The time has come for us to say goodbye to all of you out there and as I type this, it feels like I'm losing a good friend. From the crew of Nordhavn, we would like to thank you for joining us. But soon you'll get to know and enjoy the adventures of the incoming crew. There's sure to be some very interesting stories to come!
