Around The World Voyage : Commentary
13, 2001 (local)
All is well on the good ship Nordhavn. It's been pretty rough the last couple of days. Our progress changes by the hour. Yesterday we were headed for Pohnpei. It now looks like a cyclone is starting to build in that area again. So once again we have changed course for Kosrae Island. Kosrae is the easternmost island of both the Federated States of Micronesia and the Caroline Island chain. The location of Kosrae is N 05*20.379 / E 163*02.184'. From the information that we have on board, Kosrae is similar to that of Alingslapalap Atoll from which we just came.
The date is 12/13/2001 and the time is 11:00am local and 2300uct on a Thursday. Our position is N 06*55.633 / E 166*05.022. Our speed is 7.2knts @ 1800rpm. Our distance to Kosrae Island is 204km. The Barometer is at 1008mb and rising. The temp is 87.3 degrees F. Sky is overcast and the sea's are 10-12 feet. Wind is off our aft port stern at 13knts. Our course is 234M.
