At sea once again. Each place we stop it gets harder and harder to get going again. Pohnpei was a place that had so much to offer…and I barely touched it. I, for one, did not want to go. I will be back.
We had planned on leaving on Christmas Day (your Dec. 24) and pulled anchor and moved to the commercial dock to meet with customs. It was a very quiet boat that laid up against the dock as we waited. The idea of one more day sprouted… all we needed was an excuse, any excuse. It would not take much. Then it came to us: it would be such a shame to force the customs and immigration folks away from their families and homes on Christmas Day just because of our needs. A call on the radio and within 15 minutes we were back at our anchorage.
A half-hour's drive and a 2-mile hike later we were in a river's pool, beneath a 20' high, cool water fall sipping beer on the rocks below. Feeling pretty happy with ourselves that we could help out others on this Christmas Day.
Christmas to all.
