Around The World Voyage : Commentary : Leg 3
April 12, 2002
Well, here we are in Puerto de Villajoyosa. After our conversation with Jim last evening and a report that the weather was not all that great (which we already knew as we were getting thumped pretty good), it was a pretty restless night aboard the yacht. On Justin's watch we were approached by a vessel from astern. When Justin hailed him on the VHF and inquired "What are your intentions," a blue rotating light appeared on his cabintop. We responded by turning on the big 110 volt spreader lights and he disappeared into the darkness astern. The rest of the night was filled with rain squalls and rough seas. This afternoon we had chosen to wait on the weather, and as we made our approach to the harbor it was closed in by rain squalls with lightning; so we opted to run down the coast to another location, Puerto de Villajoyosa. Now I have to go check the chicken and potatoes in the oven.
