Around The World Voyage : Commentary : Leg 4

June 3, 2002

Good afternoon from NORDHAVN,

The mood aboard NORDHAVN has brightened considerably as we begin to prepare for tomorrow’s arrival in Acapulco. We awoke to clear skies, calmer seas and beautiful SOGs. Our friend Mr. Current has returned to help us- hopefully all the way to Acapulco.

We are now in sight of land and will cruise along the Mexican coast all the way to Acapulco. Removing 180 degrees from the possible source of wave patterns has considerably calmed the seas and the absence of the wretched squalls has given us the sparkling deep blue water that I remember from previous cruising in Mexico.

We have plenty of fuel, so we have “throttled up” and will run the last 24 hours at 1800 RPM. The e-mail activity with Dana Point has picked up as we confirm flights, yacht club reservations, meeting times and who is going to do what.

The biggest dilemma aboard NORDHAVN at the moment is deciding what we will order for dinner tomorrow night. For me, probably the Mexican combination.
