Cheryl
Cranston of West Seneca, NY asks:
Can
we assume the N40 has both heat and smoke alarms in the engine
room...and perhaps in the galley?
Dan
Streech responds:
We
don't have conventional smoke or heat alarms in either the
engine room or the galley. In the engine room, we have a digital
thermometer which we monitor each hour when we do our engine
room checks. Also in the engine room, we have a "Fireboy"
fire extinguisher containing pressurized FE-241 gas. It will
discharge automatically in case of a fire or it can be discharged
manually by pulling a handle located outside of the engine
room. If it should discharge, an alarm will sound in the pilot
house.
