Have you found it necessary to install storm plates at any time during the trip?

Jason, speaking for our leg which left from Greece, no, we haven't had a"necessity" for storm plates. That said, we have had the plates installed since the boat left Dana Point in November. We keep them in place simply because it's better to be safe than sorry. There were a few nights and days where I was really glad they were place. Fortunately nothing happened that would have broken a window but you never know. On the N40 we have a full width saloon and to try to install the plates underway in severe conditions, even rough conditions, would be a real chore. So again, to answer your question, no, but we have them in place anyway.
