Lee
Hyder of Copley, OH asks:
What
were the roughest seas that you encountered and how long did
they last?
Jim
Leishman responds:
So
far on this second leg - from Singapore to the Mediterranean
- we have had very nice conditions with winds generally below
20 knots and the seas less than 6 feet. On the Pacific leg,
much rougher conditions were encountered with winds up to
50 knots and seas as high as 20 feet. The duration of the
rough conditions depends on if it is caused by a depression
or if it's just strong trade winds. The latter can last for
many days and generally a depression will pass within a couple
of days.
