I was wondering how a novice would go about getting on as crew for a trip like yours or on another ship. I am considering purchasing a Trawler type vessel, but would like to get some hands on experience.

A good way to break into the passagemaking community is through the Trawler Fest or Trawler Port events. These are gatherings of people who own or are interested in trawler type vessels. There are speakers and seminars and a chance to meet boat owners and maybe find a crew position.
