James Douglas of Friday Harbor, WA asks:

How effective are the flopper stoppers in the worst possible sea conditions at 2 or so knots?

Dave Harlow responds:

The Paravane system works really well at the slower speeds. The Floppers Stopper rig is as effective at 2 or 3 knots as it is at 7 knots. This system does not require the fish to be moving forward through the water to generate roll resistance. We had the 40 is some pretty rough beam sea conditions at speeds down to 5 knots and the Paravanes kept the boat from making any quick or excessive rolls. This was with the Naiads turned off.
