Hood of Bremerton, WA asks:
There was a lot of discussion on Trawlerworld.com about
a controllable
pitch prop on a boat like that for a long voyage. What are
your thoughts about a
CPP on a Nordhavn 40?
This
is the type of question that always opens a can of worms.
We are
pretty happy with the fixed prop. We have done a lot of research
to find the
right fixed prop for this boat. The performance on this boat
is right where
we would like to see it. A fixed prop is pretty much: "put
it on and forget
it." When cruising, it can sometimes be very difficult
to service CPP in
remote areas. However, for some types of cruising the CPP
can work out well.
