Scott Strickland of Bonita Springs, FL asks:
How do you get on/off the boat with a stern tie? When I cruise the Med, should I have some kind of gang plank? (note: Scott Strickland has a Nordhavn 47 on order.)
Jeff Leishman responds:
Boarding
a boat here is difficult. We are tied stern to but we are
at a seawall that has depth right below it so we are able
to get close enough to step on the fenders that are tied to
it and jump up. Some of the other ties have shallow water
to about 10 feet out. These boats all have passerrells. Actually
all of the boats here have some form of passerrell. If I were
going to be doing more cruising here then some kind of plank
would be mandatory. They are easy to fit on the stern rail
if need be.
