Ten years ago, it was a unique sight to see a Nordhavn cruising the waters of the South Pacific, but today it’s become a preferred destination for Nordhavn owners. Australia, New Zealand, the western Pacific Islands, Indonesia and surrounding areas offer endless variety and adventures, and are now included as ‘must see’ in many Nordhavn owners’ cruising itineraries. In 2006, the timing was right to set up representation in this part of the world, so Nordhavn Australasia opened its doors in Brisbane. Now, there are more than two dozen Ozzies and Kiwis who call themselves Nordhavn owners to go along with the countless visiting Nordhavns. Team Australasia soon found that their once adequate digs in Brisbane were now incapable of handling the rapid growth in both the sales and service sectors. This prompted the launch of the new and improved Scarborough office, a sales and service mecca for both new and used Nordhavns.
As the preferred representatives of Nordhavn based in the South Pacific and Asia, Nordhavn Australasia comes equipped with a team full of boating experience and knowledge. The office is run by Peter Devers, who is assisted by brokers David Flynn and Don Lees; all highly respected long-time yacht brokers and lifetime boaters. Their commitment to client satisfaction is highly regarded within the Australian and New Zealand Marine Industry. Their extensive knowledge and experience directly benefits their clients. Peter and David joined forces with Nordhavn early in 2006 to exhibit the first Nordhavn model in Australasia, a Nordhavn 47 at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. Following the successful sale of this vessel, the pair undertook an extensive tour of the PAE yards in Taiwan and China. This visit underpinned the extensive knowledge already gained by these two self-confessed Trawler Tragics. Don joined forces with Nordhavn Australasia earlier this spring. Originally from New Zealand, his years spent in marine design, construction, marine surveying and sales bring a new level of expertise to the company.
Don’s hiring marked the initiation of the Australasian branch’s expansion, punctuated by the move to the Scarborough office situated within the Scarborough Marina complex. Scarborough Marina is ideally situated in south-east Queensland, on the northern tip of the Redcliffe Peninsula in the all weather, all tides access Scarborough Boat Harbour.
