Don’t look now but the list of Nordhavn Motorsailers available for instant delivery is quickly dwindling. Hull #9, now located in Rhode Island, was styled by designers at Nordhavn in gorgeous teak with a teak and spruce sole, and tastefully decorated in a cream and charcoal grey color scheme. The most recently built Motorsailer is in perfect condition as one might suspect having been sailed locally only for magazine seatrials. She has been regaled by the press: and her appeal has apparently reached a pinnacle in the States. Even the ill-fated hull #5 that was dropped by longshoremen while being launched off the container ship (straight from the factory) into the Pacific in Summer 2009, was purchased and launched after given a rebirth by an buyer who recognized the potential and quality that existed beyond the boat’s damage. She has been called the ultimate in motorsailer designs, being able to both motor and sail properly, echoing the heritage of the Nordhavn trawlers and Mason cruising sailing boats from which she comes.
Hull #9 is a 50-cycle boat and prime to explore the waters of Europe and beyond. Her price has been reduced from $1,903,621 to $1.6 million and she represents a sweetheart of a deal, during a time when sweetheart deals are becoming few and far between.
