Brokers Comment:

Always Friday is hull 21 of our Nordhavn 55 series and was designed and customized for world cruising. She is the newest Nordhavn 55’ currently on the market.  Credits in her logbook include the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, back down the west coast though Cabo San Lucas, Panama, Antigua, San Blas Islands and the Grand Caymans before working their / her way north on the US East Coast.  This boat is fully equipped and ready to go anywhere with redundant systems throughout just in case some of those places you would like to visit are off the beaten path.   The owners have regrettably decided to put the boat on the market since returning home and finding a great offshore boat needs to be kept on the ocean and not close to their land home in land Virginia.

Tour of the boat – From the Main Saloon to the Guest Quarters at the bow

The main saloon is accessed from the stern of the boat through a large door on the starboard side.  This arrangement allows for a large settee & table area off to port while entering the boat.  On the starboard side there are a couple of Ekornes easy chairs to relax in while watching the customized entertainment center with a Sony 42” Flat Screen TV which rises or stores behind the port settee using an electric lift.  Accenting the saloon area is indirect rope lighting for perfect indirect lighting.

Galley:

The galley is at the forward end of the saloon and provides a breakfast bar with Granite countertops.  The galley is laid out with ample storage for both beauty and ease of cleaning.  The floor tile is  custom ordered Tumbled Slate.  The galley contains the following appliances:

  • Sub-Zero refrigerators
  • Double sink (1 large/1 small)
  • Sub-Zero Freezer with Icemaker
  • Custom Tile Flooring
  • 30” GE Cooktop
  • Trash Compactor
  • 24” GE Oven
  • Pantry locker
  • Garbage Disposal

Owners Stateroom:

The owners stateroom is just forward of the galley and features a king size bed along with many drawers and lockers for storage.  At the bulkhead (at the foot of the bed) there is a 32” Runco flat screen TV that is interfaced with the boats entertainment & NavNet system so that owner can be watching TV or keeping an eye on what is happening in the wheelhouse while off watch.   Attached to the stateroom is a private head with the popular option of a full sized walk in shower.

Office:

Forward of the owners stateroom you will find a ships office along with access to the ships lower storage area.   The office features a desk with swing out chair and is well lit by both natural and the ships lighting system.

Forward Storage Area:

Below the floor and accessed from the office area is a large storage area with shelves.  It is also the machinery spaces for the boats water heater, fresh water pump, (2)Village Marine water makers, and UV sterilization system.

Guest Stateroom:

At the forward end of the boat is the guest stateroom which is accessed through the office area (that area can be combined with the stateroom to make up into a larger stateroom).  The guest stateroom includes plenty of storage as well as a private head & shower.  It is also equipped with an integrated AV system with a wall mounted high definition TV along with flush mounted speakers controlled by a Crestron touch panel.

Pilot House:

From the staterooms you will climb up into the Pilot House from the companionway.  The Pilot House includes the command stations for the vessel.  This area provides a panoramic view of the boat and her surroundings and is comfortable in all weather.  Always Friday is controlled through the use of 4 MMC control stations which also contain joy sticks for bow & stern thrusters.   The pilot house featuresevery electronic aid including FLIR necessary to traverse any ocean in the world including many duplicate systems (Redundancy – don’t leave home without it).  All of this can be controlled from the comfort of the custom ordered Crown chair. (Possibly the owners favorite feature in the pilot house)  Behind the helm chair you will find a large settee and table.  This room becomes the focal point of the boat while underway.

Captains Stateroom:

Aft in the pilothouse is the Captains Stateroom which is the perfect off watch place for those who wish to be close to the pilothouse.  It provides quiet & privacy, while at the same time those inside can be summoned quickly if needed.  It is tastefully decorated by a professional interior decorator as is the entire boat.

Utility Room:

Going down from the pilothouse on your way to the engine room you will pass through the Utility room which houses the washer and dryer as well as a deep freezer for those extended passages.  It also includes additional storage space and access to the boats stabilizers.

Engine Room:

At the aft end of the passageway is the door to the engine room that allows for easy access to all machinery necessary to run the boat.  At the top of the stairs as you enter you will see the main battery cut off switches.  Venturing further into the engine room you will find the following equipment.  The engine room is kept in immaculate condition.

Exterior Tour of the boat starting at the stern:

The extended swim platform off the stern makes for easy entry aboard either from the dock or the water using the custom swim ladder.  Once on the aft deck you will notice the winding staircase to the boat deck as well as the sink in the aft workstation.  Above the workstation are the exterior speakers which are wired into the ships AV system. (additional speakersare on the flybridge as well as forward of the bridge.

Docking the boat from the stern is done using the recessed controls which include engine, bow/stern thruster and rudder control.

Boat Deck:

The boat deck is aft of the flybridge and it is where the tender is kept and launched using the Aritex SS Davit.  Also included on the boat deck is a gasoline fueling station for the tender.

Fly Bridge :

When the weather is great, one of best places to entertain while underway is the flybridge.  The flybridge is sheltered from the sun by a fiberglass hardtop and features a sitting area and table behind the Crown helm chairs.  There is also a small refrigerator so there is no need to go below for beverages.  The flybridge is equipped with a sister set of electronics so navigation is as easy on top as it is in the wheelhouse.

Fwd Deck:

The foredeck is kept clear for anchoring duties using the Maxwell VWC 3500 windlass and the matched 110lb Bruce anchor mounted on the stainless steel bow pulpit.

Brokers Summary:

Always Friday is an exceptional Nordhavn.  Her sellers are two of the most enthusiastic Nordhavn owners you will ever meet.  The “trip of a lifetime” included waypoints, whales, bald eagles, and game fish too numerous to mention – but many photographs along the way fill a scrapbook loaded with a lifetime of memories packed into just over a year of cruising.  The Nordhavn 55 is PAE’s most popular selling model and the build time for a new boat will take quite some time.  If you are ready now, Always Friday awaits, her name speaks volumes about the sellers cruising philosophy aboard and is a great summary of the lifestyle her new owners will enjoy.  Always Friday was a huge visitor draw at the February 2008 Miami Boat Show and is scheduled for other appearances this summer.
