“Strickly for Fun” is a well traveled and well maintained Nordhavn 47, equipped with a flybridge, an unusually comprehensive equipment complement, and a ship’s log to inspire anyone with plans or dreams of going cruising. In the course of 30,000 miles logged, there have been many additions and refinements, including several that have made this boat particularly well-suited for European and other international cruising. Practical items such as a Furuno Navnet Plotter and DC voltmeter are mounted right just to the side of the bed, European AC electrical circuits in addition to the standard US domestic circuits are found throughout, and redundancy in radars, GPS’s, VHF radios, depth finders, transducers, and autopilots (including pumps), are all part of “Strickly for Fun’s” specifications.
“Strickly for Fun” was a participant in the 2004 “Nordhavn Atlantic Rally”, subsequently spent time cruising through the Mediterranean, and returned to North America via the Canary Islands and the Caribbean. Further voyaging included Central America, and the Pacific Northwest up to Alaska.
Lest there be a concern that the miles logged imply that she appear worn - as testament to the conscientious care given by the owners and the legendary Nordhavn durability, a close inspection will reveal that she is in very nice, clean condition and ready to continue on cruising. “Strickly for Fun” is fitted with the same keel-cooled/dry exhaust Lugger engine that has been powering Nordhavns over so many transoceanic miles since 1988, and at 4600 hours is considered to have many thousands of reliable hours left before a major overhaul.
This is an exceptionally well equipped and proven boat, inspiring the owner’s pronouncement that “this is the best equipped, and best maintained Nordhavn 47 for World cruising.”
