Overview:
Eliana is hull #17 of the Nordhavn 76 series. By the time
that she was launched, Nordhavn 76’s had already made several trans-oceanic
passages. To date she has run up the Pacific Coast to Alaska, and out into the
Pacific to Hawaii and back to the Pacific Northwest where she is currently
moored. She is a beautiful, comfortable boat that has had every maintenance
detail tended to. With her fluid capacities, and electrical and mechanical
specifications, “Eliana” becomes a comfortable and adaptable living environment
anywhere in the world. The alliterative phrase “Elegant Eliana” states it
perfectly.
General Arrangement
“Eliana” has been built as an aft pilothouse model with port
and starboard side decks as opposed to the standard starboard side deck-only
arrangement of the Nordhavn 76. The aft pilothouse model has a large open
arrangement with the salon joining the galley at the forward end. The result
is an airy and social environment on the main deck. Eliana is beautifully
appointed with simple and contemporary soft goods and furniture. The interior
joinery is predominantly African cherry (makore), with accents of wenge in
areas such as bed pedestals and smaller furniture.
Step aboard from either side deck and enter the interior
through the port or starboard side doors, or aft cockpit/salon door. The salon
space feels comfortable right from the start. The cabin sole is covered in a Donegal
tweed natural wool carpet. The overhead panels are detailed in wood and
contrasting fabric covered panels. The installed furniture is plush and
comfortable. To starboard is an L-shaped sofa, and to port cabinetwork forming
storage lockers forward along the outboard side of the salon. Forward on the
starboard side is an armchair and table with lamp. Above the wood joiner work
the walls are sheathed in a woven textured fabric covering that is reflective
and warm. Taken all together, the interior soft goods add to the already
considerable standard sound attenuation measures that are incorporated by
Nordhavn in the construction process, which also include rubber gasketed doorjambs
throughout the interior.
Next forward on the starboard side is the galley with a functionally
shaped marble- topped counter defining its perimeter, and providing efficient
dining or serving surfaces. The galley is perfectly configured for dining or
entertaining. Along with the pilothouse, it serves very well as a social
gathering place.
The appliances in the galley are all first quality and
beautifully integrated into the cabinetwork.
Flexibility of
operation – crew accommodation
The Nordhavn 76 is deceptively easy to maneuver and to run.
In fact, many 76’s are run by a cruising couple, just as “Eliana” has been by
her owners. Among the advantages are five control stations: pilothouse, port
and starboard wing stations on the Portuguese bridge, and aft cockpit station.
But, should the owners elect, the interior layout will also accommodate a basic
crew of captain and mate. (See “Captain’s Cabin, below for details)
