Introduction
This is the Nordhavn that started it all! Nordhavn Yachts Northeast is pleased to offer experienced cruisers and Nordhavn enthusiasts the opportunity to own a piece of history. Nordhavn 46-01 “Frog-Kiss” has been lovingly cruised and cared for over the last five years by a family for whom cruising to Bermuda, along the US East Coast, across the Atlantic and throughout the Med has been a lifelong dream. “Frog-Kiss” has been well maintained while putting miles under her keel. Following the vessel description (which calls out numerous upgrades made) the owner has included his own commentary extolling Frog-Kiss’s virtues and what makes her an exceptional passagemaker.

Vessel Walk-through
On the main deck level coming off the cockpit to port there is a salon banquette with an adjustable height dining table. Under the dinette are numerous storage compartments for almost all spare parts, etc. Additional storage is behind the seat backs. Forward of the dinette to port is a U-shaped galley with a 3 burner gimballed gas cook top/oven combination and plenty of cruising amenities. Opposite the dinette to starboard in the salon are two comfortable club chairs, separated by a teak bar/table combination. The HD TV/CD player folds off the ceiling on the port side just before the galley.

Excellent access to the engine room is via four large hinged floor hatches in the salon. Additional access to the tops of the four fuel tanks, the genset and the Edson pump is via an additional three floor hatches. Further access to the engine room is through a watertight door in the main stateroom head. This provides instant easy access to all main engine daily maintenance functions: fuel, oil and coolant systems.

Stairs lead down out of the salon to the owner's stateroom amidships, with its own head, a shower stall and an electric head. Three hanging lockers and lots of drawers. Forward of the owner's stateroom is the guest stateroom with a double berth to port, a large single to starboard, its own head, with separate shower immediately on centerline forward. Huge storage in 2 hanging lockers and many drawers under the bunks. On the starboard side of the guest SR stairs is a large freezer and washer/dryer (Splendide full size washer/dryer with separate 220V transformer-NEW 2007). Access to guest quarters is either directly from the bridge via starboard dedicated set of stairs or through the master SR ensuring total privacy for both guests and owners.

On the bridge are a complete set of navigation gear, storage lockers, a settee and a table, a very comfortable leather Captains chair, a drop leaf chart table, a book case, a pilot berth and a foul weather gear locker. Access to the bridge is also via stairs out of the salon. The top of the stairs can be covered with a carpeted ¾ inch fitted floor plate which increases square footage and facilitates cooling or heating of the Pilot House. When not in use, floor cover can be stored under the Guest bunk.

Owners’ Comments

What differentiates "Frog-Kiss" N4601 from other N46

Hydraulic bow and stern thrusters.
Hydraulic thrusters are much more reliable and more powerful than electrical ones. They can also be run for long period of time as opposed to electrical ones which can be used only in short burst of times. With both bow and stern thrusters Frog-Kiss can be moved totally sideways against 20knts of wind.

Complete ESI polishing and/or transfer fuel system.

Separate, independent from regular fuel system, pick up and return manifold allows any fuel tank to be polished to 3microns (or 10 or 30 depending on needs) at any time. Fuel can be transferred from any of 4 tanks to any tanks via polishing or directly if needed. New fuel will be taken on board first only into one empty tank while self polishing. Contamination will be noticed before any significant fuel quantity is delivered.  Tank #4, stbd aft, is used as a main engine only day tank. Tank #2, port aft, is used for generator, wing engine and diesel heater.

One of a kind Forward guest cabin, large hanging closet in main cabin added.

The Stbd side of the guest cabin has been totally reconstructed by highest quality cabinet maker. The skinny bench has been replaced by a higher full single bed with large cabinets and drawers underneath it adding significant easily accessible storage space. The guest cabin includes now a double bed on Port and a very comfortable single on Stbd.

A large cedar lined hanging closet has been built in the Aft section of the main cabin replacing the small desk and mirror.

Much improved ventilation throughout.

Two large dorades have been added to the roof top of the pilot house. Regardless of rain or spray over the bow ventilation in and out can now be provided in the pilot house at all times.

The 2 original fwd deck dorades have been replaced by higher (26") ones now creating much added and necessary flow through the main and guest cabins.

With 3 independent reversible AC/heating units and a separate central diesel heating system, Frog-Kiss can comfortably handle any very cold or very hot weather...

220V and 110Volts electrical system.

Frog-Kiss has been cruising the Med for the past 4 years. She has a totally separate plug in system for 220V with a very sophisticated galvanic isolator safe grounding system for both 110V and 220V. All equipment on board can be run safely on 220V50Hz or 110V60Hz. A large assortment of all different Europeans plugs as well as 100' long cables are included.

"Med-Mooring" special system set up.

An 8ft long aluminum "passerelle" can be set as easily from the stern or the bow. Then stored conveniently against the cabin in the Stbd passage way.

An after deck topside covered reel with 600ft of 3/8" 3 strand nylon line and another one on the fore deck with 600ft of 3/4" 3 strand nylon rode are ready for quick, untangled, deployment at anytime. This makes it very easy for any kind of stern to or bow to med mooring situation as well as added safety in any anchoring in deep water situation. It has also come in handy for kedging off sand bars in the Bahamas or towing disabled sailboats through the Gulf Steam from Bermuda to Newport.

Very practical, no help needed, push button only, deployment and retrieval of stabilizing paravanes.

This system is the one used by all fishing vessels in the NE or NW United states. Its simplicity and proven efficiency are evident BUT, YES, it makes you look like a fishing trawler and perhaps not the sleek fast motor yacht you could be...I have never seen this system used on any other Nordhavn where an extra line connected to winches is usually used to retrieve "the birds". When the birds are running these lines are dragging in the water from the birds back to the boat multiplying by 40 ( at least???) any chances of fouling as well as increasing drag...

When cruising on "Frog-Kiss" birds are stowed at the end of the deployed booms. They can be lowered or brought back up on the single hoisting chain or line by the 2 electric winches on the sail boom. This can be done from anywhere inside or outside of the boat with the 2 remote control switches...A child can do it...

Separate all stainless steel "Anchor stopper" can be launched and retrieved by hand. Priceless in rocking anchorages...Instant relief!

Full size swiveling comfortable helm's Chair.

The wooden standard helm's bench has been replaced by a full size leather helm seat. This is difficult to do on an N46 due to lack of space. Some modifications to the pilot house table and a sliding chair system makes it non obtrusive.

Large oval all aluminum waterproof deck hatch to access anchor/storage locker from fore deck.

You can visually check anchor rode from deck as it is retrieved as well as store fenders, lines, hoses, etc etc...

Main engine dry exhaust brought up to top of the mast.

For quieter, cleaner operation.

Extensive Sunbrella protective covers.

Full matching fitted with clear windows "Sunbrella" covers, totally enclosing Aft Deck, from topsides to roof top, side walking Stbd walkways and "Portuguese" Bridge. Plus cover for all Portside windows and side deck. This totally protect varnished teak top rail, gelcoated deck areas from sun/weather damage as well as keep the boat much warmer in the winter and cooler in tropical storage situation.

175cc two persons scooter. (large wheels).

Safely and solidly stored with cover Port side on top deck. Can be launched and retrieved same as dinghy with the assistance of the 2 electric winches on sail boom.

In Mast furling steadying sail.

1st level defense against rolls in beam seas. Very easy to roll in or out.
