OVERVIEW:
Nord Sail One is hull #1 of the Nordhavn 56 Motorsailer series, a design that draws on Pacific Asian Enterprise’s extensive experience with the Nordhavn trawler and Mason sailboat offshore cruising yachts. The 56 is powered by a well-proven Lugger engine combined with a reasonable sailplan each of which could provide primary propulsion, or supplement the other as conditions warrant. The sailplan is contributes effectively to roll resistance. The inclusion of a Hundested variable-pitch propeller system allows adjustment of the engine power output to work with the power from the sailplan to increase fuel efficiency
Nord Sail One is capable of maintaining speeds in the 7 to 10 knot range while burning a minimum of fuel. With the fuel capacity of 800 gals and the 1217 sq ft of sail area, the marriage of sail and power, the range is unlimited.
The interior is teak with teak and spruce soles throughout, and has an aft master and forward guest cabin each with centerline beds. The pilothouse has the steering station forward and full width salon aft. A combination of Nordhavn’s superb joinery and the owners’ addition of beautifully crafted soft goods render a very warm, comfortable interior.
The hull color is a beautiful blue-grey with a dark blue boot stripe and red bottom paint. The deck is white with light grey non-skid panels on working decks, and all white panels on pilothouse roof. “Nord Sail One” has the optional sailing cockpit forward of the pilothouse in addition to the covered aft cockpit.
Sail handling gear includes a Leisure Furl in-boom system which retains the best mainsail shape of any mainsail furling system and includes an integral sail cover. The headsail furling system is Reckmann hydraulically driven. There are also Lewmar self-tailing hydraulic primary, secondary, mainsheet, and main halyard winches, and one manual utility winch on deck at the mast.
The deck forward of the pilothouse includes a Maxwell windlass and stout anchor roller assembly. Just aft is hatch access to a deep sail locker with shelving for rigging stowage.
Nord Sail One is a wonderful opportunity for new owners to purchase a very, very clean and well-equipped Nordhavn 56 in the Pacific Northwest, and quickly be ready to embark on cruising plans North to Alaska or South to Mexico. Opportunity to experience the beautiful Pacific Northwest in the Spring and Summer and then head South for the Winter. Nord Sail One is also available for a skippered custom charter booking to try before you buy or just experience sailing the fabulous Nordhavn Motorsailer. Nord Sail One has cruised from Mexico to the PNW and can attest to it being a terrific sailing experience.
