A Delivery At Home
By Amy Zahra
Just a few weeks ago, the Lenthall family took delivery of a beautiful Nordhavn 47, Outward Bound, and held a christening party to commemorate the occasion at the docks in front of our southwest sales office in Dana Point, CA. However, the Lenthalls didn’t have to travel very far for the celebration since they also call Dana Point their home. The extended family, which includes Jim Lenthall, his wife Linda, their son James, his wife Stephanie, and their sons Carsen (5) and Riley (almost 3), have lived in Dana Point for over 35 years, and plan on staying here for many more years, except when they’re out cruising, that is. They are longtime boaters and have had many boats of various types and sizes in the Dana Point marina for as long as they have lived here. James Lenthall even worked for the Dana Point Marina Company back in 1989, which is when he first became acquainted with the Nordhavn sales office (formerly Lemest Yacht Sales) and the first Nordhavn model, the N46.
Jim and James became fascinated with Nordhavns, and saw them come and go (and change and grow) over the years. Their family grew, as well as their desire to have a boat to accommodate them and their cruising lifestyle, so they jumped at the chance to land their perfect vessel when they learned a brand new Nordhavn 47 was available in Dana Point for immediate purchase. This was highly unusual since the majority of new Nordhavns are already spoken for by the time they arrive to the marina. They knew that this was finally their opportunity to have the ideal family boat, and as James stated, “We were excited to purchase a boat from a builder with a similar history and commitment to Dana Point (as us).”
Their immediate cruising plans include several trips to Catalina Island, and then exploring the west coast including Mexico and Alaska. Once they’ve conquered the west, they hope to venture into the Caribbean and beyond.
All of us here at P.A.E. wish the Lenthalls the very best and hope they enjoy cruising together in their new Nordhavn. And we look forward to them stopping by “the neighborhood” from time to time to say hello!
