Controlling noise and vibration on a long-distance
passagemaker is extremely important as the crew will be exposed
to ambient noise while underway for long periods of time. Aggressive
steps are taken to reduce noise, including the installation of
special sound deadening materials throughout the engine room and
the use of resilient mounts wherever required. Exhaust systems
are free-floating, with their hoses and metal piping mechanically
isolated from any hull material with specially designed mounting
hardware. On a Nordhavn, sailors will appreciate being able to
hear the gentle sounds of water passing along the hull. |
