Tim Morris, Torquay, Devon GBR asks:
Hi to you both. Just wondered how you have dealt with
healthcare provision for your global wanderings. Do you rely on local
services or have you taken out insurance. Thank you.
Scott Flanders from Egret responds:
Tim, We carry international health insurance with a very high deductible.
We pay for regular visits out of pocket. We find it is much, much cheaper
than our old insurance. The only caveat is we have to be out of the US for
six months of the year. No problem there. It also allows for us to be
treated in the US. What we are insuring for are catastrophic expenses for
long term care. The insurance costs us something over $3000/year for both
of us. In Europe we paid out of pocket for three different situations and
found health care excellent and very reasonable vs the States.
