Threat of typhoon delays 120 departure

The start of Peak typhoon season is still weeks away but Typhoon Soulik has now organized well enough and sits smack on top of the planned route of the 120. So the decision to wait out the storm and delay departure of 120#1 until Tuesday has been made.

The additional days will give the crew a clear weather window to Hong Kong. The yacht will likely arrive at the Gold Coast Marina next Wednesday.

The storm wasn't the only thing putting the 120 off her schedule. Hold ups with customs and other paperwork have also caused some delay.

"As eager as everyone is to get underway, there's no need to rush out of here," said PAE vice president and vessel captain Jim Leishman. "Based on the advice of our weather router, we are going to be patient."
