Update on the Nordhavn 59 Coastal Pilot
The Nordhavn 59 Coastal Pilot is entering its final phase of work at the factory and is anticipated to ship around the end of this month. Hull #1 was recently launched into the test tank with stellar results, notes Vice President of Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) Jim Leishman. With full fuel and water plus ballast to simulate the weight of the tender, the boat floated on its lines as expected. “It was perfect in terms of trim,” said Leishman.
The boat is nearly complete with windows and hardware installed, final through hulls have been put into position and the boot stripe painted. Interior cushions have also been placed.
Seatrials will occur in two weeks. Leishman, along with project manager Garrett Severen, and representatives from Cummins Engines will oversee testing. Performance estimates will be released once seatrials are complete. Leishman also hopes to take video footage of the boat to give a realistic idea of how well the boat looks and performs underway.
“We are so excited about this boat,” said Leishman. Already there are pending contracts on several hulls. PAE staff and clients are gearing up for N59#1’s arrival to Dana Point, CA in mid-May. She’ll undergo installation of canvas, the tender will be mounted and final tweaks made.
