What's Happening - Nordhavn 5501 Arrives in Hawaii

Honu Kai arrived safe and sound in Ko Olina Marina, (on the southwest tip of Oahu), on the early morning of July 13th.

According to owner Bill Heaman, the sea was mild (6-8 foot seas mostly, with a few days of 10-12 foot seas), the wind was light to medium (28 knot winds at the most), and the weather was fair (overcast, then high clouds, and finally sunny) and the trip was uneventful overall. Bill checked in with us on July 7 th : "We are dining, fishing (one Mahi Mahi so far) lounging, reading and drinking. The weather and seas have been good and we currently expect favorable conditions through our arrival. The boat is performing well and everyone is having a great time."

Here are the details from the voyage:

  • Departed Dana Point Marina on the evening of June 30th
  • Arrived in the early morning at Ko Olina Marina on July 13th
  • Total voyage was 12.5 days, 300 hours
  • Total distance was 2400 km
  • Average speed was 8 knots
