GSSR's Ken Williams just added as a Rendezvous speaker
October 16, 2009
PAE is excited to announce that Ken Williams, who spearheaded the recently completed Great Siberian Sushi Run, will join Sprague Theobald as a featured speaker during the Friday night festivities at next weekend's Nordhavn Southwest Rendezvous. Williams will give a presentation on the successful voyage he and wife Roberta took alongside two other Nordhavn-owning couples. Having departed Seattle in June, the GSSR route took the boats through the Bering Sea with stops at remote Alaskan ports as well as in Siberia, and finished in Osaka, Japan.
Williams has reached iconic status amongst Nordhavn fans for the entertaining and detailed blog he keeps while cruising on the couple's various mega-trips. He first garnered an audience with reports written while underway during the Nordhavn Atlantic Rally in 2004. He's also written two cruising books: Cruising an Ocean Under Power and Cruising Under Power (Central America and Mexico).
The Rendezvous seminar schedule places a heavy emphasis on Nordhavn owner-operator adventures. Sharing the bill with Williams on Friday night is Theobald, the author/filmmaker who shot a documentary of his expedtion through the Northwest Passage on board his Nordhavn 57. On Saturday, Eric and Christi Grab, owners of a Nordhavn 43, will make a presentation on the circumnavigation they completed earlier this year. The couple had almost no offshore cruising experience prior to embarking on their global journey.
