Meet Don Lees

Nordhavn is excited to introduce the newest member of its sales staff, Don Lees, who joins the force at the Australasia offices.

Peter Devers, who manages Nordhavn’s Down Under affiliate, is thrilled to add Don to his staff. “Don is well known in the Australian marine industry and brings a wealth of knowledge to our team,” says Peter. Such level of expertise comes from his years spent in marine design, construction, marine surveying and sales.
A qualified shipwright originally from New Zealand where he developed a love of sailing, Don came to Sydney, Australia during the 1960s. He first worked at the renowned Halvorsen Yard at Ryde before teaming up with his business partner to form Compass Yachts Australasia, which at one point were Australia's largest yacht builder, designing and building production GRP yachts for local and overseas markets.

After the closure of Compass in 1981 Don resumed a management role supervising the building of aluminium and GRP recreational and commercial vessels.

Since moving to Brisbane in 1990, he has been self-employed as a marine consultant, having to date completed more than 3,500 pre-purchase and insurance Marine Survey Inspections.

Don’s quiet, respectful and adept negotiating skills, and his attention to detail in the area of the sales administration process will ensure a professional liaison with Nordhavn customers.
It’s only fitting that Nordhavn’s newest salesman will be based out of Nordhavn’s newest sales office, the recently-opened Scarborough location. Besides getting acquainted with his new home, Don has spent the past few weeks studying Nordhavns and looks forward to building relationships with current and future Nordhavn owners alike. “I’m thrilled to be able to use my skills and share my enthusiasm for yachting with such an outstanding outfit as Nordhavn,” says Don. “I’m eager to share in peoples’ dreams and help make their plans for life on the water a reality.”
