More Sponsors Are Joining The
Nordhavn Rally Bandwagon!
Dana Point, Calif. – (February 10, 2004) – The Nordhavn
Atlantic Rally continues to receive enthusiastic support from marine
industry leaders, according to Pacific Asian Enterprises Vice President,
Jim Leishman. “We couldn’t be more pleased by the support
we’re getting from our sponsors and the press about this event,
“ says Leishman. “Over two-dozen more companies have
agreed to help with the Rally. Without their financial and logistical
support, we couldn’t have attempted to manage a project of
this magnitude.”
Companies are contributing in a number of ways. Marine equipment
companies have donated products or provided significant discounts
for escort vessels and participants. Others are helping with technical
support and are offering to train participants in the use of their
products. Marinas and yacht clubs in Ft. Lauderdale, Bermuda, the
Azores and Gibraltar are providing special services and reduced
rates for all participating boats. “It’s apparent that
many companies and organizations see the ‘big picture’
benefit of this event,” adds Leishman. “Hopefully, others
will be inspired by our participants crossing the ocean on their
own bottom and will want to buy a boat and do the same.”

Leishman also points to the terrific enthusiasm of the press.
“It all began when Yachting and MotorBoating stepped up and
offered to sponsor one of our escort vessels and host our Bon Voyage
Party. They immediately saw this Rally as being of great interest
to their readers and
will be sending editors on every leg. We’re also thrilled
that so many other magazines are either sending editors on one of
the legs or are at least covering the event. Power Cruising, Soundings,
Lakeland Boating, Southern Boating and the UK’s MotorBoat
& Yachting will be aboard with a writer. SEA, Boating, Yachts
International and Showboats International have agreed to cover the
Rally. Since our event is open to non-Nordhavns, we had always hoped
the press would see this as an effort to promote long distance cruising
in general.” Besides Nordhavn, a Hatteras, Kadey-Krogen and
a Monk designed 80-foot expedition yacht are among the participants.

The Nordhavn Atlantic Rally is taking place this coming May, when
a fleet of 33 seaworthy power vessels will leave Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida and cross the Atlantic Ocean, arriving in Gibraltar in late
June. The fleet of passage makers will be escorted by three Nordhavns
which will provide technical and logistical support throughout the
voyage. The fleet will stop in Bermuda and the Azores before completing
the 3,500-mile voyage to Gibraltar.
Pacific Asian Enterprises (P.A.E.) is the designer and developer
of the Nordhavn line of oceangoing powerboats. It is currently building
twelve models between the sizes of 35 and
76-feet.
