When reserving my space, is it better to get dock space or a mooring?
It’s a matter of personal preference. The Herreshoff Museum Marina has both dock space and moorings. Dock space is inherently more convenient, but you’ll be paying extra for that convenience over the cost of a mooring and the space is limited. For those who choose to moor, there will be a launch service on hand to retrieve you and bring you back to your boat. Additionally, some boats who are berthed at the dock will have to move their boats on Friday during the hours of the Open House. (See the Open House section for more details.)
What if there is no more space?
It’s true that we have had more interest than the amount of dock space and number of moorings available so that’s why making your reservation early is vital. But we have secured some moorings at a marina across the way from the Herreshoff in the event that capacity is reached. Contact us if you are told that space is sold out.
What will the Open House entail?
In order to provide top prospects the opportunity to see a Nordhavn up close, we annually hold an Open House featuring only boats currently in production. You are by no means obligated to participate, however, anyone whose boats ends up being an exhibit boat in the Open House will receive a free night’s dockage/mooring (whichever has been previously arranged).
Also, if you do not participate and have reserved dock space, you may be asked to move your boat from the dock in order to make room for the display boats during the hours of the Open House.
(See the Open House section for more details.)
Do we have to attend the seminars?
Nothing on the Rendezvous itinerary is mandatory. However, we have chosen a number of seminar topics based on responses to the questionnaire that was sent out in February and believe we have put together a top-notch group of speakers and subjects that will be informative and entertaining for all.
On our free day, we don’t want to spend the entire day sightseeing.
The organized tour and trolley shuttle to Newport have been arranged for the ease of Rendezvous participants who don’t have means of transportation or don’t know what to see while here. There are rental car agencies if you prefer to sightsee on your own or Bristol has plenty to do for an afternoon with lots of charming shops and restaurants and a wonderful park. (See the About Bristol & the Marina section for more details.)
Where can we get our boat serviced after the Rendezvous?
There are plenty of yards in this area that can help you depending on your needs. Nordhavn Yachts Northeast is located on the site of the Brewers Sakonnet Shipyard and Marina in Portsmouth, just down the river from the Herreshoff. Brewers Sakonnet has serviced many Nordhavns and can probably best help you with your needs. (See the About Bristol & the Marina section for more details.)
