Welcome to a feature to our website called the Nordhavn Garage Sale. We use this site to sell the used, scratched, out-of-date or otherwise unwanted parts that accumulate in our stockroom and cannot be used on a new boat. With almost 60 new Nordhavns passing through the system each year and over 400 Nordhavns in service worldwide, you can imagine that our parts and materials department is a very busy place and many choice parts accumulate.

While a new Nordhavn is in the warranty period, P.A.E. takes a "customer is always right" attitude and will often just replace a part, system or appliance rather than make the owner suffer through a wait or repair process. This results in happy customers but a stockroom full of items that in many cases are perfect for the bargain hunter.

We are constantly upgrading our Nordhavns with better parts, materials and systems as we find them. Typically when an owner receives his new boat, he will find a better boat than he bargained for. Upgrading a boat under construction to a different or better part sometimes leaves brand new parts stranded in our inventory unreturnable and unusable on a new boat.

Illustrating this is the collection of propellers we have amassed. The introduction of a new Nordhavn model, or a change of engine specification on an existing Nordhavn model, often leads to a laborious process of getting the propeller sizing correct. Naval architect Jeff Leishman does exacting calculations to predict the correct propeller size. The engine manufactures also supply propeller sizing recommendations. But propeller sizing is still somewhat of a black art and can only be perfected through trial and error. In the cruel world of propellers, "if you use it, you own it". We may end up testing three or four different props to get the results we want. As a result, all of those test props end up collecting dust in our stockroom. Since we consider the propeller costs as part of the R & D of a new model, we will be offering the slightly used propellers for a fraction of our cost.
