Thierry is currently closing in on the Azores and despite what he has heard about famed watering hole Peter’s Café Sport, won’t be stopping in Horta to enjoy a quick beer. Instead he’ll by bypass even though he has learned many things about the Azores being a boating haven: Many yachts and sailboats on the Atlantic Ocean stopover in the Azores. Although hundreds of yachts arrive in the Azores each year, most of them are sailing around the islands. This ensures that the islands with secluded coves, quiet anchorages and protected ports can still be discovered. Sailing and yacht facilities are concentrated in the four major ports: Horta, Ponta Delgada, Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitoria. Horta is by far the most popular. The marina has space for 300 vessels and is currently number four on the list of the most visited marinas on the ocean. The Azores are an ideal destination for sailing holidays. |
