Customer’s cruising plans: The owners will spend the remainder of this year getting accustomed to the boat in local waters around the UK and Ireland, then plan to circumnavigate next season.
The owners are former avid sailors who circumnavigated 18 years ago in their sailboat. They were looking to replicate the experience but with greater comfort and ease that a long distance motoryacht could give them. “For them, Nordhavn was really the only name on their list,” said their salesman Philip Roach.
Notes about this boat: The goal for this couple was to build a very modern, clean and simplified yacht. To achieve this, they started by implementing teak horizontal grain throughout, which pairs beautifully with the cool, contemporary color palette. They extended the contemporary scheme with glass tiles in the galley. The good natured owners did want to include touches of whimsy, however, such as playing with the color of their two helm seats – a red chair to starboard, green to port.
To accomplish their goal of simplifying their boat’s complicated systems, the couple opted to make as many appliances and processes run on 24-volt and make other modifications that would eliminate the need to rely so much on generators when not plugged in. For instance, the fridges and freezers on board are 24 volt DC and will also be keel cooled. “They want their boat to be as efficient as possible, which likely harkens back to their sailboat days,” said Philip. “We’ve created for them a simplified, elegant yacht and they couldn’t be more delighted with the outcome.”
